Philosophy

MotherNurture was established to fill a 'gap' in service for new mothers throughout South Australia.

Within the Private Health care system there is limited access to consistent midwifery advice especially in the postnatal period.

Donna Mansell the director and founder of MotherNurture started this business in 2007 to help new mums in this joyous and often confusing time. Over the last few years with the access to Medicare it has allowed the expansion of this business and has enabled more women access to affordable high quality midwifery services from a consistent carer. It has also allowed midwives the autonomy of a more focused case load of clients especially postnatally.

The midwives at MotherNurture are very focused on what your individual aims and goals are. We try and offer unbiased 'logical' advice focusing on normal maternal and newborn changes. We have many years of knowledge and experience in the whole pregnancy and postnatal experience, both professionally and personally. We also try to leave you with resources to help build your confidence and knowledge throughout your parenting years.

MotherNurture structures each package and specifies the information and education for each new mother.

How we work:

Due to changes in the Medicare system we are very pleased to be able to offer our services with Medicare rebates both in pregnancy and the postnatal period.

We are also working closely with some South Australian obstetricians to help guide you consistently through your pregnancy and postnatal time. This will enable one of the MotherNurture team to get to know you and your family throughout the pregnancy and offer education and guidance to you, around your own specific circumstances. This is usually 3-5 antenatal appointments as agreed upon with your booked obstetrician. We are hoping to gain 'visiting rights' and be able to offer consistent guidance in the early postnatal period at the hospital hat your birth takes place at. Currently this is only available at North Eastern Community Hospital.

Postnatally we cater to your specific needs in terms of midwifery care and education. Please refer to services offered as a brief outline of the services we provide. We take a holistic approach to infant care. Each package is individually tailored to the needs of your family.

In the postnatal period we see you twice a week for the first two weeks and then weekly until six weeks. We are available outside of appointments for phone advice between 8am and 8pm. We hope that this consistent advice and guidance  helps you and your family settle in with your new child.

As mentioned visits are tailored around your circumstances. Most visits in the first three weeks are conducted in the privacy of your own home. After this time we negotiate whether visits are at home or in our clinic locations conveniently situated around metropolitan Adelaide.

With the guidance and the reassurance of qualified midwives at your side, you and your baby will bond more easily, making those early weeks smoother and more enjoyable.

All care is provided in collaboration with your GP, Obstetrician or Paediatrician with a detailed discharge letter written to the referee to continue a seamless service.
